Your Most Valuable Asset - Time

The more I get involved in other people's businesses as a coach the more i realize the critical usage of time often separates whether people are successful or not in their home business.

No one plans not to use their time well. It just seems distraction is an ever present temptation to our every day working lives. But study the world's most successful people and you will notice the pre-eminence of a great personal time strategy.

Simply put - successful people simply get more done and work on the most critical success inducing parts of their business or role. This invariably comes back to sales and marketing for most of us in a home enterprise.

Donald Trump is famous for squeezing the most out of his working day. One day could mean 30-40 telephone calls (inbound and outbound) and 5-8 meetings in a typical day. How? He simply focuses on the task at hand and the long term goal and separates everything else.

Studies have shown separating everything else (including email, uninvited guests, non productive meetings, doing non important tasks etc etc.) is the critical skill you should adopt to be 20-30% more effective every day.

Some of my mentors have suggested to focus on one business building activity each day for 60 minutes minimum. This is great advice for the home business builder. Focus for 1 hour a day(minimum) on a critical marketing activity or sales activity or following up a quotation.

I have found the simple focus above works very well for me. Maybe it will work for you too.

Spend 1 hour day working ON IMPROVING the sales, the marketing, training a team member or systemizing a procedure which longer term make things easier, better and more productive.

The key is to pre-plan the hour you will do every day into your diary.

Try it and see if it works for you.
